Rexroth iPad Catalog App

CHALLENGE
Bosch Rexroth is one of the world’s leading specialists in the field of drive and control technologies, providing hundreds of products to more than 500,000 customers in 80 countries. Prior to 2012, Rexroth had 8 different print catalogs displaying their products line. These catalogs were one of the primary tools for the sales team.

While visually appealing and informative, over time these catalogs became cumbersome to track new leads, and were costly to update. Customers were asking sales staff for more convenience and simplicity --less paperwork to sort through to find products. They wanted the ability to take the product info with them on their preferred devices vs. having to locate 6 different catalogs.

Rexroth knew they needed a digital solution that would not only lower the hard costs of the print catalogs, but also provide a more engaging product experience to customers and aid sales teams.

 

iPAD DIGITAL PRODUCT CATALOG
Working with Rexroth, LACED Agency determined the best strategic solution; a Digital Product Catalog that would combine all 8 print catalogs into 1 database of products. This would allow easy updates, an engaging product experience, tracking abilities previously not available with the print catalogs, and give sales and customers the ability to easily locate and take the catalog with them wherever they go.

Following a discovery and research phase, it was established that the IPAD was a preferred device among the sales teams as well potential and current customers. For that reason, LACED Agency recommended a native app for the digital product catalog.

LACED Agency designed the UI (User Interface) for the iPAD Digital Catalog as well as the motion graphics intro. Working collaboratively with both the development team as well as the in-house technical staff at Rexroth – LACED Agency used the AGILE Process throughout the project initiative in order to stay on schedule, maintain team communication, stay on budget, and ensure quality.

 

SUCCESS METRICS
Rexroth looks forward to rolling out the new iPAD Digital Catalog to sales teams, as well as directly to customers over the next few weeks. At that time, Rexroth will be tracking the usage, and closely monitoring feedback for success of the strategic initiative.

Currently, the iPAD Digital Catalog will be submitted to Apple for approval in their app store on January 9, 2012. It will be available for download and to the public two weeks following.
